Clifton Estate obtained it’s name from Little Clifton in Cumbria England. Our property in the Barossa was settled on the 2nd of March, 1854. In that year a vineyard of Shiraz grapes was planted near the Clifton homestead and thus one of the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyards in Australia, and possibly the world, was established
